Fine-Motor Skills

The ability to REPRODUCE LETTERS / WORDS / SENTENCES on a page is a complex process involving the small muscles of the hand, visual perceptual spatial understanding, motor-sequencing, successive processing and planning to name but a few skills. Activities are mindful of these underlying skills and provide opportunities for practise. This will help to make handwriting automatic and reduce the cognitive demand allocated to the handwriting process leaving cognitive space for other thinking skills.
