Perceptual & Thinking Skills

A collection of LEARNING ACTIVITIES/GAMES to develop in the child the necessary COGNITIVE SKILLS to engage with ACADEMIC, SOCIAL and EMOTIONAL FUNCTIONING. These activities will be added to as they become available. Initially, the activities I have found to be most powerful will be developed first.

Phonological Processing involves the manipulation of sound. The input into the brain is AUDITORY and requires the ability to discriminate sounds, analyse the different sounds within a word, sequence sounds and remember sequences of sound in order to spell.

SUCCESSIVE PROCESSING is a cognitive skill that involves the young person being able to identify the sequence of something and reproduce this. This sequencing may involve a combination of what the young person hears (AUDITORY), sees (VISUAL), does (MOTOR) and or understands (SYNTAX).
